Instruments - Marimbas
amaAmbush assembles marimbas at their factory located in Cape Town, District Six. They are built to be strong, portable and resonant. All instruments include the F# to allow greater harmonic flexibility. All our sets are in the key of C and G. We have supplied marimbas to various schools, proffesional bands and government organizations. The marimbas have been developed over a period of seven years, and have been constantly tested by the companies flagship band, amaAmbush.
amaAmbush Soprano Marimba
Cost - R6,000 inc VAT
The Soprano marimba is the highest in the range of instruments. It starts on a middle C, and has a range of just over two octaves. This marimba is often used for playing melody lines.
amaAmbush Alto Marimba
Cost - R6,000 inc VAT
The Alto marimba has a very comfortable range, starting on G below middle C and going up just over two octaves. We often recommend that if a customer is purchasing only one instrument, that the choice is between the Alto and the Tenor. The Alto marimba can play harmonic backing on the lower range as well as melodic lines on the higher notes.
amaAmbush Tenor Marimba

The Tenor marimba has a richly warm, resonant tone. It has a a range of just under two octaves. This marimba is ideal for providing a chordal, harmonic background for the higher instruments to play over. With practice, warm melodies can be produced on the Tenor.
amaAmbush Bass Marimba
Cost - R6,000 inc VAT
The Bass marimba has a deep resonant sound. It covers a range of just over an octave. This instrument provides the foundation for the rest of the band, and anything from simple hypnotic tones to complex melodic bass lines can be developed on the instrument.

This includes the Bass, Tenor, Alto and Soprano. The marimbas are ideally matched to create a warm, energetic and vibrant harmony of sound.
